Lasko 751320 Ceramic Tower Heater with Remote Control FAQ

1. What size of room will this heat?
A: My living room is about 15 x 15 feet, or 225 sq. ft. The heat also carries over into the adjoining kitchenette. I'm using it to supplement the gas heating, & it really helps; it even gets my always-cold feet warm! Hope this helps, & good luck.

2. Does it stay cool to touch?
A: I wouldn't say "cool" to the touch no. The heating element does not glow red and is behind the grill so you can't come in contact with it anyway. But it puts out some heat so the plastic grill can get warm. Never enough to cause a burn of any kind though. It's very safe. I have no little kids anymore, but would not worry about them getting near it if I did.

3. How many watts does it use?
A: That is a VERY good question, the user manual, which can be found here: http://www.laskoproducts.com/usermanuals/751320CeramicTowerHeater.pdf states "When initially turned on, the Heater will be in High heat (1500 Watts) on Max". So basically, the heater will use 1500Watts on MAX, and less power on lower heat settings. In terms of money per month I'll do a quick calculation. Say you use the heater every night for 8hrs (because your significant other is ALWAYS cold because they are anemic, as in my case, and you wake up in the middle of the night sweating because its so hot because this heater works THAT good but you have NO choice but to leave the heat on or sleep in the living room on the couch because your wife will wake up and get mad if you turn it off....smh)... So at the average of 12cents/kwh for 8hrs per night for the average of 30.4368 days a month, we have the following formula: 1500W * 8h * 30.4368days = 36000Wh/month or a whopping 360KWh/month. Now at 12cents per KWh, we have: $0.12 * 360KWh = $43.20/month. That means my electric bill is $43.30 higher every month because my wife likes our bedroom to be around 95deg F every night and I wake up with a dry sore throat and feeling like I was in the Sahara desert in Africa all night. Anyway, I hope that answers your question! This heater really is as awesome as all the reviewers say it is. I have been very impressed so far!

Lasko 754200 Ceramic Heater FAQ:

1. does it start automatically at night if I set the temperature before I go to sleep?
A1: The heater has a thermostat (right side knob). Its just like your house thermostat on your wall at home. Comes on and goes off depending on your setting. However it does not have a way to program what time it comes on and goes off like some of the more expensive heaters have with LCD programmable controls.
A2: You could easily add in-line an appliance timer, which range in price from about $12-$25.

2. will this automatically shut off, if it over heats or if it's tipped over? thanks.
A: This unit will shut off if it over heats (and can be reset). It does not have a "tip-over" shut-off switch.

3. Can I use this with a 24-hour timer? I want it to only turn on from 4-5AM as I'm getting ready for work.
A: Yes you can! The controls are 'analog' so you can place the switch to the setting you want and have a timer turn on the heater. I would just make sure the timer is able to handle the load since the heater is high amp device. Good luck!

4. can you mount this on a wall or something?
A: The heater does not have any mounting holes. The internal fan, which is quite a good size (and VERY quite), draws in air from the back through an approx. 5" round vent. With this in mind, the fan could be placed on a small wall hanging shelf (that would allow the rear fan vent to draw in air without obstruction; given that the back of the heater would have at least 2-3 inches of clearance). It would be very "do-able" and very easy to construct. In my opinion, using wood as material should not create any safety concerns, as the ENTIRE plastic housing is not even warm when the unit is on. Great question and idea!
